A door off its tracks is unsafe to force and unsafe to stand under. The door is secured, realigned and every roller reset, with cables and tracks checked before it runs again. A garage door in Clarkston works in heat, humidity and storm season, in garages that rarely get a dry month. This is what we actually find here, and what we check on every visit.
Warm, damp air sits in Clarkston garages most of the year, and springs, cables and hinges corrode in it steadily. Rust pits spring coils and frays cable strands long before the door looks tired from the street, which is why hardware condition is checked on every visit here.
A closed Clarkston garage in July is an oven, and the bottom seal, opener backup battery and remote batteries all age fast in that heat. A hardened seal leaks storm rain and pests; a cooked battery leaves the opener dead in the next outage.
Wasps at the track, webs across the photo-eye and lizards in the wrong place are ordinary Georgia garage life - and each one can break the safety beam and send a closing door reversing. Sensor faults here are diagnosed before any opener parts are discussed.
Many newer Clarkston homes were built with the lightest springs, rollers and opener the builder could fit. They work - for a while - and then wear out together, which is why a five-year-old subdivision door can need more hardware work than a twenty-year-old one.

The logic board, most often. Surges in DeKalb County storms reach the opener through the garage outlet, and the board controls the remote, wall button and safety logic all at once. We test board, motor and sensors and tell you plainly whether a board or a replacement opener is the honest repair.
The safety sensors are the first check: a web, a bumped bracket or sun glare can break the beam. If the sensors are sound, the door may be binding in the track or the opener travel force may be set wrong for a door grown heavier with worn rollers. It is a diagnosis, not a guess.
If the springs are sound, yes - pull the red release cord with the door closed and lift steadily; it should rise and hold. If it feels dead heavy or sinks back, a spring has failed. Stop there and call: forcing it risks the door, the opener and you.
No. An off-track door in Clarkston is hanging under spring tension, often on a frayed cable, and pushing rollers back can drop a panel. Keep everyone clear, leave the opener alone, and let a tech secure the door before anything is realigned.
No - residential only, and we say so plainly. Our work in Clarkston is sectional doors on homes: springs, openers, cables, tracks, panels and off-track repairs. Commercial overhead and roll-up doors belong with a commercial shop.
No — and be wary of anyone who does. Every garage door fails differently, so a phone price is a guess that changes at your door. Our estimates are free: a tech looks at the actual door, springs and opener, then gives you one clear price before any work starts.
