Garage Door Installation
New doors fitted right: measured, installed, balanced, and tested, with the opener set up and the old door hauled away. Hillside openings are checked for square and slope before fitting, since the opening decides how the door will run. A garage door in Sausalito rarely fights deep cold - it fights age, slope, salt or heat depending on the neighborhood, plus the occasional shake. This is what we actually find here, and what we check on every visit.
Older Sausalito neighborhoods often have detached garages off an alley, exposed to full weather and easy to neglect. Springs rust, tracks collect grit and openers age unseen in those garages until the morning the door simply refuses.
Planned shutoffs and storm outages in Marin County leave doors dead where they sit. With sound springs the red cord lift is easy; with a failing spring the same door is dead weight - which is why spring condition is outage preparation here, not trivia.
Many Sausalito owners add smart controllers and cameras to openers in garages wired decades earlier. Intermittent operation here is as often a power, wiring or interference story as an opener story, and the diagnosis checks the whole chain before parts are discussed.
Tight, sloped driveways make the slow bump into a moving door a Sausalito classic, and one bump is enough to pop rollers out on one side. The crooked door that follows is a secure-and-realign job, never a push-it-back job.

Because its springs are tired or broken - the opener was guiding the door, never lifting its full weight. A healthy door in Sausalito lifts with modest effort and holds halfway. A dead-heavy door is a spring diagnosis, and forcing it risks the opener motor and the top panel.
Could be either, and in older Sausalito garages the house is a real suspect: worn outlets, older wiring, or radio interference from LED lighting and smart gear. We test the opener, its power and its signal chain together, so a sound opener is never replaced for a wiring fault.
No. The door is under spring tension and often hanging on one cable, and pushing can drop a panel. Keep everyone clear of a crooked door in Sausalito, leave the opener alone, and let a tech secure the door before anything is realigned.
Yes. Salt air near the Sausalito coast pits spring coils and cable strands, and pitted steel fails ahead of its cycle rating. Visible rust on coils or fraying at the bottom brackets means an inspection is due - springs here are checked for corrosion as carefully as for wear.
Start with the sensors: dust, a bumped bracket or bright sun in a sensor eye can break the beam on Sausalito doors. If the eyes are clean and aligned, the door may be binding or the opener force settings may no longer suit a heavier, older door. Either way it is a diagnosis, not a guess.
No — and be wary of anyone who does. Every garage door fails differently, so a phone price is a guess that changes at your door. Our estimates are free: a tech looks at the actual door, springs and opener, then gives you one clear price before any work starts.
